Activity Leader - From the 28th June 2019

As an Embassy Summer Activity Leader, you will be at the forefront of developing students' Life Skills by providing instruction, guiding and coaching.

Together with your centre team, you will be responsible for maximising both student and Group Leader satisfaction, ensuring that we meet or exceed expectations.

Activity Leader duties include:

  • To lead, supervise, motivate and engage students on activities and trips
  • To enthusiastically promote the Activity Programme
  • To ensure adequate preparation and set up for on/ offsite activities
  • To prepare, plan and lead students on excursions 
  • To maintain levels of discipline, safety and welfare
  • To assist in day to day general duties as instructed by senior management
  • To work in a way that promotes the safety and well-being of children and young people
  • To carry out residential supervision duties, including meal and bedtime supervision as requested by the Centre Manager
  • To complete 'prep time' in accordance with the requirements outlined by line managers to benefit the delivery of the activity and excursion programme
  • To help manage and maintain activity stock, which will include lifting and carrying of equipment 
  • To assist and engage students with activities and excursions through the use of the Embassy Summer app

What Qualifications are required?

  • Educated to A-Level or equivalent (Essential) 
  • Valid First Aid Certificate (Desirable)
  • Specialism in sports coaching, drama and dance (Desirable)

What Experience is required?

ALL Activity Leaders are expected to demonstrate:

  • Experience / or interest in working with young people (Essential)
  • Experience of working in a summer school environment (Desirable)

What Skills are required?

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills 
  • Ability to deal with complexity and resolve problems and issues 
  • Ability to motivate and engage students 
  • Ability to work under pressure 
  • Demonstrate initiative 

In accordance with our Company Code of Conduct, and any local policies and operating procedures relating to academic, welfare and safeguarding matters, you will need to demonstrate:

  • The ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and demonstrate boundaries with children and young people
  • Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours
  • A positive attitude to the use of authority and maintaining discipline
  • A high level of attention to detail

What Training will be offered?

All New Activity Leaders will have:

  • Pre-arrival online training
  • A practical training day in London
  • Role specific manuals
  • Centre induction on arrival
  • Observations
  • CPD opportunities
  • Opportunities to shadow managers and career progression

Working week:

  • 6 days out of 7 (1 day off per week)
  • 44 hours per week (including preparation time)


  • From £303.26 per week (inclusive of holiday pay)
  • £44.80 deduction per week for residential accommodation (if required)

Disclosure and Barring Service:

  • We will pay for your DBS application
  • We will reimburse you the cost of your DBS update fee (£13)
